ERCP
An endoscopic technique for treating blockages of the bile duct and pancreatic duct without open surgery.
What it involves
Used for large common bile duct stones, obstructive jaundice, and pancreatico-biliary malignancy, including the placement of plastic and self-expanding metal stents.
You might be advised this if you have
- Jaundice with pain or fever
- Bile duct stones seen on ultrasound or MRCP
- A blocked bile duct from a tumour
